The Hoover Dam started construction on March 11, 1931. The chief engineer was Frank Crowe. The dam was funded by the government.

Before they build the dam, they must first open a road leading to the canyon to transport supplies. Before building the dam, the Colorado River must be diverted, but the river is full of cliffs, so the only way is to drill and blast on both sides of the canyon to open four diversion tunnels. However, the living and working environment of the workers who opened the diversion tunnels is deteriorating, causing many workers to become more and more dissatisfied with Gore, even planning a strike. On August 7, the workers formally went on strike. At that time, there were still a large number of unemployed people who were eligible to replace them. Therefore, the workers took a big risk and even had the opportunity to lose their jobs. Gore chose to suppress the strikers, fire them, and re-employ them. In 1932, Hanoi flowed into the tunnel for the first time, the diversion project was successful, and the dam was officially built. The rest of the project is only to use concrete to build the dam. The government has given a deadline of 4 and a half years. Although there is a lot of time, Gore wants to complete it early in order to get a large bonus. In 1933, a total of one million cubic yards of concrete was poured. In 1935, the dam was completed two years earlier, and Gore received a bonus. Hoover Dam killed 112 workers
